I couldn’t believe it this morning when I woke up to my neighborhood covered in snow. My car was covered in a layer of snow, the Christmas decorations were frosty, the ground was icy, and the roof had a layer of sparkly white. It was gorgeous. Instant happiness at seven AM. What a way to start the day right?

And you may be thinking, why is snow so exciting? It’s “just snow”. Well for me, it’s exciting because it’s my first snow. I’ve visited snow many times before in my life. Whether it was while camping or traveling to a snowy area, this was back in California as a kid. But this morning was the very first time I have lived somewhere and woken up to snow. It was so beautiful to see the breeze blowing the flurries off the fern trees and it was incredibly soft. The snow that I have been in in the past, has been hard, packed in, snow. It must have been sitting a bit before we came across it because it was more solid and packed into the ground. Like ice. But this fresh snow was so fluffy. Like bunny fur. Soft like a cloud. And pure untarnished white. WITH SPARKLES.

You’ve seen Gilmore Girls right? Please tell me you’ve watched my favorite show of all time. It’s amazing. Anyways, Lorelai is my favorite character in the show. And she has so many scenes where it snows in Stars Hollow and she stays up until midnight to see it snow, or she wakes up at three AM because she “felt something”. Lots of special moments happened in the snow, or because it snowed, in Stars Hollow. Even though they’re in Connecticut, and it snows all the time, Lorelai still found it the most amazing thing in her world. I guess I’m like that too.

This morning, coming outside and being instantly indescribably happy, all because of snow. It was crazy. In those moments of being in disbelief that it actually snowed at my house, I thought to myself that this reminds me of Lorelai Gilmore. Because one thing you should know about me, is that I take any chance I can get to relate whatever we are talking about, or whatever is going on, to Gilmore Girls. It’s just that good.

Sadly, the snow has almost all melted by now. It’s been here all day, and it’s been so pretty. Freezing. But pretty. But since the sun has spent all day melting it, we won’t be waking up to a winter wonderland tomorrow morning. But it’s alright, because we can hope for another snow this winter. Maybe even on Christmas. That is what I wish for. Snow on Christmas. I have always wanted to see snow on Christmas Day.
