Welcome to the first post in the Christmas Guide Series! I completely understand and feel the pain of not knowing what to gift for Christmas. Unfortunately, I am terrible at coming up with ideas. I’m more of a know it when I see it kind of girl. Which isn’t always very helpful, especially when you are shopping for somebody with different interests than yours. Or, the worst one, for the opposite sex. For whatever reason, as a girl, buying gifts for dudes is the greatest pain of the holidays. We love them of course, but they are so hard to shop for. But that’s for another day. In this post, I will cover some ideas for your horse girls. And where to find them 😉

These are practical items that are super useful to receive as gifts. A lot of times these items need to be replaced and can add up when you need multiple at a time. So here’s the practical list:
Saddle pads – the blanket sitting under the saddle when riding. These come in so many fun colors and patterns. And they are easily found on Amazon, or on an equestrian specific site. Some of those would be Kerrits, Ariat, Noble Outfitters, Dover, etc.
Ear bonnets – the covering over the horse’s ears. Usually worn at shows or for events. These will also be found on equestrian sites and Amazon. There are many colors and a lot of glittery or gemstone options!
Bridles – this is what the horse wears over his head while riding. These will be better found on tack sites, but sometimes you can find cheaper ones on Amazon. Personally, I would not buy these from Amazon, only because the quality is not great. Most Amazon options for bridles are off brands that are not nearly as good of quality as a real tack shop. So look at Dover, Ariat, etc.
Horse boots – the boots go on the horse’s legs. There are so many kinds of boots that horses wear so be sure to know which kind you are getting and what it’s for because your horse girl may or may not use that kind for her needs. These, like the saddle pads, come in many colors, patterns, and textures. As well as three sizes. Small, medium, and large. Basically, small ponies get small, small horses get medium, and big horses get large.
Grooming tools – this is by far the most practical thing to gift a horse person. We use these every day and the tools we use can break or get worn down over time. Grooming tools normally come in sets with a lot of pieces. You would get a whole kit in one purchase instead of finding all the individual items which is handy. Again, Amazon, Ariat, Noble Outfitters, etc. These can be personalized and have color options.
Equipment storage – storage is always very important and very handy. Things like boot bags, helmet bags, sets of drawers for smaller items, bags for tools, and tack trunks. Any of these things would be a great handy gift. The tack trunks are best found at Home Depot or somewhere like that. And the rest will be best found on Amazon, you will have the most options there!
Polo wraps – these are like the boots. Different sizes depending on horse size. They come in different colors and patterns as well. Amazon will have tons of options for these.
Halters – these are worn on horses to lead around and tie. Halters come in full leather, rope, or nylon. Leather halters are very pretty, usually more expensive, but last a long time and have a nice look. They can be embroidered, plated, and personalized. Nylon and rope halters are very sturdy, they have colors as well. These are not very customizable but are still great to have around! You can find these on Amazon, Kerrits, Dover, Noble Outfitters, Ariat, etc.
Equipment tags – tags are normally metal circles. Like dog tags pretty much. These will need to be personalized and engraved with names, phone numbers, addresses, etc. I would go to Amazon for this. Or Etsy if you want to get fancy.
Human boots – riding boots are pretty pricy. So if you want a more expensive gift, this is the way to go for sure. Finding these will be easiest on Ariat or Dover. Make sure you have size measurements for your recipient. These are easy to order after you have the correct size. Either black or brown is standard. Unless you are looking for a fancy pair that are more custom to a specific taste. Then you will have texture options and accent colors and other things like that.
Riding clothes – clothes are pretty simple. Breeches, riding tights, tops, moisture wicking tops, sports bras, socks, warm jackets, rain coats, etc. All that jazz. Amazon is great for the clothing items, there will be lots of options.

This next list is more for fun. These are by no means necessities but are so fun.
Halter & bridle name plates – these are handy and fun. They are custom with names and different fonts! Amazon should have a few options, and then Etsy will be great for this too.
Embroidered & personalized items – storage bags and totes, saddle pads, ear bonnets, and tags can be personalized along with other things. Etsy is a great resource.
Belts – look for leather belts on Amazon or Ariat. Stamped leather is super fun, as well as different belt buckles. These have a lot of styles to choose from so it can be really personal to your recipient.
Horse themed clothes – horse t shirts, horse socks, things like that. Amazon is your friend here again.
Horse themed bedding – Again. Our lovely friend Amazon. There are also some cool options in country living magazines and Ariat and Boot Barn magazines. You will have to order them online though, they are not in the stores.
Horse themed water bottles – Amazon will have tons of options, or Etsy sellers make them custom.
Hoof glitter paint – Noble Outfitters and Amazon will have the hoof paint. This is so fun for our younger horse girls. It’s glitter for the ponies!
Horse paint – Amazon. Younger girls will love painting the horses and it’s a good excuse to give the horses baths.
Horse books – Any bookstore will have horse books at least in the kids section. Amazon will have more types of horse books, as well as the tack stores. You could go different routes here. There are horse stories, kids horse books, classic horse books like Black Beauty, educational books, how-to books, and more.
As you can see, there are tons and tons of possibilities for horsie gifts. For our horse girls, pretty much anything with a horse on it will do! Younger girls will love the fun items like bedding and clothes and paint. Whereas the older horse girls would appreciate the practical items that are expenses to them. So have a think and see what your horse girl might love for Christmas! I can’t wait to hear what y’all come up with for your loved ones. Good luck!
