A few months back, maybe February or so, my boyfriend and I went on a mission. A crafting mission. We saw an Instagram Reel of this couple making a tie blanket together and we went, “oh we gotta do that”. So off we went to Joann’s to browse fabric. We ended up with these two fleecy fabrics, perfect for the cold weather here in North Carolina. One side is green and thicker fleece. The other side is a floral print, also fleece but thinner.

To my absolute surprise, the blanket ended up with two matching sides. I’ll be honest I did not expect that. In my head I was imagining a super wonky looking blanket because I would pick a pretty fabric and he would be likely to pick one more dude looking that definitely wouldn’t match each other. But you know what, I was pleasantly surprised.
Now to the magic part. We rotate the blanket back and forth so he gets it for a while and I get it for a while. And each time him or I gets our turn with the blanket at our houses we sleep like babies. There’s something about it, maybe the other’s sent on the fabric or the comfort of it being a thing we both cherish and made together. We’re not entirely sure, but it’s pretty special. And that just gets me thinking. How can one person be so comforting? It’s actually amazing how calm and relaxed we can feel just being in the presence of the person we love. Even something like a blanket can be so powerful to the mind. And mind you, I’ve been an insomniac for my whole life, so when something helps me sleep good, and I mean really good, you know it’s a powerful source of magic. Because only magic could knock me out like a baby. That and Nyquil.
