If you ask me, Morgan Wallen is pretty incredible. He writes deep songs with messages about his life and love. With one song in particular that I love, called “Had It” from his album One Thing At A Time, he writes about being canceled a few years back. He writes the lyric “and you sure as hell can’t take back what you say when you’re drunk and your speakin’ your mind”.

I LOVE that lyric because he references something that happened to him in the past and when you hear it your brain clicks. You go, “Oh wow thats what he’s talking about”. And being a proud Morgan Wallen fan myself, I of course knew exactly what he was referencing with those words.

If you look at Taylor Swift she does the same thing. She writes her music about the things that have happened in her life. Plus, they both are HUGE stars. Everybody knows who they are whether you listen to their music or not you know about them. But I personally feel like Morgan Wallen gets the short end of the stick when it comes to his musical skills. He is so under-appreciated in my opinion. I feel like his fans like him for his music yes, but they don’t necessarily see the full extent of how deep his lyrics go. And I think that’s something that we, as fans, should be taking a deeper look at. We should be appreciating our beloved artists for their talent and who they are as people and what kind of value they bring to their genre.

Often the artist’s actual intentions with their music get overlooked because of the hype over their name. We see this all the time in pop culture. Something or someone gets big and famous and it starts to become “cool” to like that thing. Taylor Swift is popular because it’s the “thing” to like her music. Same with Nirvana recently. That is another incredible band that I could write about. Growing up with their music playing from my dad’s garage, I certainly appreciate the sound of the songs and the lives of the band members. Rest in peace Kurt Cobain.

I wish it wasn’t “cool” to like Nirvana. Because now fans are under-appreciating the music. Not listening because they appreciate it or love the lyrics or the sound. But listening because they want to get in the “in” crowd. I feel the same is happening with Morgan Wallen. So here I am, spreading the word about the lyrics. About the talent. And about the value of this artist. Trying to show people the value in Morgan Wallen that goes way beyond just being a country bad boy that we drool over.
